Faces Behind the Mission

Claudine Nwadiozor, DO Founder & Chair

Dr. Nwadiozor is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician completing residency in Washington, DC. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and her Doctorate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is passionate about mentorship and advancing a physician workforce that reflects the diverse patient populations it serves. She has mentored numerous pre-medical and medical students, many of whom have successfully been admitted to medical school and matched into residency programs. Through mentoring, Dr. Nwadiozor recognized the need for more accessible support, guidance, and community for women from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing careers in medicine. Her passion, evident in the work she already does, led to the creation of the Brave Roots Bloom Foundation, an initiative dedicated to supporting future physicians through sponsorship, mentorship, and community-centered programming.

Oticia Brisport, MS3
Programs & Events Coordinator

Student Doctor Brisport is a third-year medical student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Originally from Guyana, Oticia moved to the United States in 2012 to pursue higher education. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Her path in medicine has been profoundly influenced by mentorship. As a Black woman in medicine, she recognizes mentorship as essential for fostering representation, confidence, and belonging in spaces where students like her are often underrepresented. She enjoys working with children, interacting with patients, and is always excited by opportunities to engage with and give back to her community. Outside of medicine, you can find Oticia socializing with friends, tending to her home garden, or planning fun events that bring people together.
